About the Duo
Carbé and Durand deliver passionate, high-energy performances featuring fiery Spanish guitar, infectious rhythms, and melodic storytelling. In both their duo work and with their award-winning world music group Incendio, they’ve built a loyal following across the U.S. and internationally.
As co-founders of Incendio — along with guitarist Jim Stubblefield — they’ve released eleven albums, two DVDs, and numerous singles. Additionally, Carbé and Durand have released two albums and many singles as a duo, showcasing their unique blend of original music and vibrant arrangements. The group’s Billboard-charting success and electrifying live shows have led to a packed touring schedule of 100–150 performances annually since their founding in 2000. Whether performing as a duo or as part of Incendio, Carbé and Durand are known for their warm stage presence, improvisational energy, and deep connection with their audiences.
Meet Liza and JP
Liza Carbé is a seasoned performer and multi-instrumentalist with a background in classical guitar, voice, and bass. She holds a degree in classical guitar and voice from Cal State Northridge and has performed with Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac, The female rock band Vixen, and Leon Patillo of Santana.
Jean-Pierre Durand guitarist extraordinaire and multi-instrumentalist with roots in blues, Latin, and world music. While earning an economics degree from UC Berkeley, he performed with local Bay Area blues legends as well as the infamous John Belushi Memorial Blues Band. Of Peruvian heritage and fluent in Spanish, he also worked in Latin television before dedicating himself fully to music.
Together, they founded Strange Tree Productions, creating music for film, television, ballet, and video games, as well as producing all their own projects.

Their music has been featured in Burn Notice, Law and Order, The Big Bang Theory, Star Trek, Bridesmaids, The History of Mexico, Far Cry 3, and Star Trek: Picard – No Man’s Land. They also scored Ballet Fantastique’s Nottingham: The Story of Robin Hood.
Giving Back
Carbé and Durand have worked with PAC (Prison Arts Collective), City Hearts, and Homeboy Industries to bring music education and performances to prisons, inner-city youth, and communities in need. They also offer workshops at festivals and schools.
